–Butler swimmer David Bocci won the state championship in the 100-Butterfly Saturday. Ben Borvendeg, also from Butler, had a fourth in the 50 Freestyle. Butler also had top-five finish in the 400-relay.
–Seneca Valley’s Daniel Simoes was runner-up in the 200 Individual Medley and 100 Freestyle events. The Seneca Valley Team finished fourth overall and Butler fifth. –North Catholic’s Maggie Foley was runner-up in the 2A Diving.
–The North Allegheny Boys Bowling team won the state championship Saturday. The Tigers qualified third overall. They defeated Pennsbury 2-0 in the title match.
–The Karns City Boys Basketball team had their season end in the PIAA quarterfinals, following a 75-45 loss to undefeated Our Lady of Sacred Heart. Nathan Waltman led the Gremlins with 21 points.
–Despite losing players and their head coach to a COVID outbreak in the past week, the Upper St. Clair Boys defeated Erie 62-57 in the 6A quarterfinals Saturday. The win moved USC into the state semifinals for the first time in school history. They meet Reading Tuesday. Upper St. Clair played the game with only six players, but lost a player to injury during the game.
–Ellwood City fell to Brookville 62-60.
–New Castle lost to Cathedral Prep 52-50 in overtime Friday.
–The North Allegheny Girls rolled into the semifinals with a 60-30 win over McDowell. The Tigers get Cumberland Valley tonight.
