The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette released its 45th annual “Fantastic 22” high school football players list on Thanksgiving. North Catholic senior quarterback Joey Felitsky was named to the list. Felitsky had one of the best seasons in WPIAL history. He threw for 3,388 yards, good for seventh-best on the all-time list. His 46 touchdown passes ranked among the best ever. Felitsky also became the first WPIAL quarterback to lead the league in passing two years in a row since the 1988-89 season. He threw for 6,370 yards and 69 touchdown passes over the last two years. Felitsky is mulling an offer from John Carroll, and is considering Duquesne or a PSAC school.
