Following an announcement earlier this week that South Butler County School District will receive a large state grant, administrators are now sharing information about how that money will be spent.
The Pennsylvania Department of Education has awarded South Butler a Competitive Safety Grant in the amount of $405,000.
According to Superintendent Dr. David Foley, that money will be used to replace and expand existing video surveillance coverage of South Butler schools. The current system is analog while the new system will be digital in order to provide HD images to School Police.
Other planned safety enhancements will not be detailed by the district for security reasons.
