A northern Butler County township is looking to change how scholarships are awarded for the county Paramedic Academy.
Participants in the program have a year to fulfill the training.
But Mercer Township is asking Butler County Commissioners to consider extending the scholarships to allow for people to complete the training on a part-time basis. Officials say many of the participants work full-time, and the schedule makes it difficult to handle both.
The county commissioners have said they are continuing to work with northern municipalities to help resolve the EMS crisis.
