A child died while swimming at Moraine State Park’s Lake Arthur on Monday.
First responders were called to the Pleasant Valley Beach area in Muddy Creek Township shortly before 2 p.m. after a five year old boy was under the water for an undetermined amount of time.
Crews from Portersville EMS and Prospect Fire Department arrived to find CPR in progress. Emergency personnel continued to perform CPR for over 15 minutes.
The Butler County Coroner confirmed that he had been called to the scene to confirm the death of the child. No identity was revealed, although our news partner at WPXI report that the child was from Pittsburgh.
Moraine State Park and police are investigating the incident.
