Armstrong County Memorial Hospital has joined an initiative to help rural hospitals across the state.
They were one of eight hospitals to announce their involvement in the Rural Health Model, which Department of Health spokesperson Nate Wardle says should help these hospitals long-term.
“What the Rural Health Model does is create a global budget,” Wardle said. “So at the beginning of the year the hospitals know how much money they’re going to receive, which allows them to budget for the year and to plan out the ways they can provide transformative healthcare in their communities.”
Wardle said that these hospitals play an integral role in their communities and that the Rural Health Model aims to keep them viable in the future.
