A house was heavily damaged in a Thursday evening fire in Butler Township.
It happened around 5 p.m. at a home in the 100 block of Alhambra Drive.
The Butler City and Butler Township Fire Departments responded to the call. Here’s City Captain Tom Fair.
“The back end of the house was on fire so we were going to try and hit it from the exterior at first, but it was elevated and we couldn’t get up to the deck,” Fair said.
“So we gained entry through the front door and we actually knocked down the fire on the first floor. Most of the fire was on the second floor at that point, so we made an interior attack and knocked it down,” Fair said.
Two people were inside the home when the fire started, but escaped safely to a neighbor’s house.
Fair said there was heavy damage to the backend of the home.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
