Yet another recognition for Slippery Rock University quarterback Roland Rivers III. Rivers has won the 2019 Maxwell Football Club’s Brian Westbrook Regional Player of the Year award. He will be honored at the organization’s 83rd annual Gala – March 6th in Atlantic City alongside LSU quarterback Joe Burrow, Ohio State defensive end Chase Young, LSU head coach Ed Orgeron and the still-to-be-named NFL Player and Coach of the Year.
The award is named after former Philadelphia Eagles running back Brian Westbrook. It honors the top collegiate player in the region, regardless of division. Rivers III is the first player from any Western Pennsylvania school to win the award. Penn State quarterback Trace McSorley won the award in 2016.
