Former Butler County Commissioner and longtime community activist Dale Pinkerton has died.
He passed away Sunday after an illness.
Pinkerton served two terms as county commissioner from 2008 to 2016.
He was also the owner of Pinkerton’s Tires on Main Street in Butler. Pinkerton was heavily involved in the community, serving as a member of Butler PM Rotary and the Syria Shrine.
Visitation will be at the Young Funeral Home Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. and then on Thursday from Noon to 3 p.m. and 6-9 pm. Funeral Services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church.

Butler County Commissioners will be honoring the legacy of the late Dale Pinkerton Wednesday at their public meeting, by declaring it “Commissioner Pinkerton Fantastic Day.”
The former commissioner and community activist was known for his cheery personality and affection for the phrase “fantastic.”
Pinkerton will be honored with a moment of silence prior to the public meeting.
