Boys Basketball:
–Butler clinched the Class 6A Section 1 title last night with a 68-63 victory over Pine-Richland. It is the first boys basketball section title for the Golden Tornado since 1992, when head coach Matt Clement was a player on the team. Ethan Morton and Devin Carney had 18 points each to lead Butler, who are now 14-4 overall, and 8-0 in section play.
–Highlands defeated Knoch 72-65 in a critical Class 4A Section 1 matchup. Jared Schrecengost led the Knights with 19 points. Knoch fell to 16-2 overall and are tied with Highlands in the section at 7-1.
–Mars defeated Armstrong 60-38. Michael Carmody and Zach Schlegel had 16 points each for the Planets.
–Mount Pleasant defeated Freeport 47-41.
–North Catholic defeated Fort Cherry 84-38. Jackson Paschall led the Trojans with 18. Ryan Feczko had 16.
–Keystone defeated Karns City 64-43. Keystone takes control of the KSAC South with the win, as they improved to 15-2 and 6-1 in conference play. The Gremlins fell to 11-7 and 5-2 in the South.
–AC Valley-78 Forest Area-43. Eddie Stevanus and Levi Orton had double-doubles to lead the Falcons. Stevanus netted 19 points and 12 rebounds. Orton had 18 points, 13 rebounds and five steals.
Girls Basketball:
–Knoch defeated Mars 59-55. Madilyn Boyer led the Knights with 23 points. Neveah Ewing added 15. Bella Pelaia led Mars with 20 points.
–Dubois Central Catholic defeated AC Valley 50-40.
Rifle:
–Penn-Trafford defeated Butler 799-797.
Andrew Arbanas, Bailey Beers, Aidan Ketterer, Kayla Kopelic and Cody Stroup led Butler with 100’s.
