This morning’s wintry weather led to numerous accidents across the county—including two crashes that shut down major roadways.
A portion of Route 19 near the Log Cabin Inn in Harmony was closed because of a one vehicle accident. It happened around 7:30 a.m. crews say three people were injured in the crash—including two infants. There is no word on their current condition.
And a portion of Route 228 in Middlesex Township was closed in between Mars High School and Route 8. An accident happened near Davis Road around 6:15 a.m. which led to significant delays. Crews ultimately decided to close the road.
There were a number of other accidents that also caused issues during the morning commute.
One of the first reported accidents happened this morning on Evans City Road in Butler Township. The multi-vehicle crash happened at the intersection with Kriess Road.
There were also two crashes on Saxonburg Road. The first happened when a car struck a utility pole in the 300 block of Saxonburg Road, which led to lane restrictions. As soon as crews cleared that scene, they were called to a rollover accident near Caldwell Drive, which happened around 8:20 a.m. It’s unclear what the condition was of both drivers.
A portion of Meridian Road had to be shut down when a truck went into a ditch near Powder Mill Road.
