Butler City Police are receiving help from a well-known Pittsburgh sports figure to help care for their new K-9 officers.
According to Chief Bob O’Neill, the Ben Roethlisberger Foundation has announced that it will make a $5,000 donation to the Butler City Police, K9 Fund. The Steelers quarterback has donated over $2 million through his foundation over the past 13 years.
K9 officer Chooch began working with Lieutenant Brian Grooms last month and K9 officer Rico has been partnered with Officer Andrew Niederlander.
This money will be used to keep the dogs healthy and to help purchase equipment to keep them safe. Care for these law enforcement animals comes entirely from grants and community contributions.
