The Toronto Maple Leafs shutout the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-0 last night. Toronto’s All-Star goaltender Fredercik Andersen stopped all 24 shots on goal, while Penguins goaltender Matt Murray stopped 26 of 30 shots.
The loss combined with Washington’s overtime loss has the Penguins and Capitals tied for the Metropolitan Division lead. The Pens host Buffalo Saturday at 1pm, then visit Washington for a 12:30pm face-off Sunday.
The Pens made a four-player trade with Montreal Thursday, sending Joseph Blandisi and Jake Lucchini to the Canadiens in exchange for forwards Riley Barber and Phil Varone. Blandisi had two goals and three assists in 21 games this season with the Penguins. Barber is a Pittsburgh native who has made brief appearances with the Canadiens.
