Mars has clinched a third straight trip to the WPIAL title game after a 59-50 win last night against Chartiers Valley. Michael Carmody led the way for Mars scoring 27 points and netting 18 rebounds. Mars will face Laurel Highlands in the 5A championship game Friday night at 9 p.m. at the Petersen Event Center.
The Butler Golden Tornado hopes to make it two consecutive trips to the WPIAL Championship game when they take on Upper St. Clair tonight. It’s a part of a double header at Robert Morris University. The first 6A semi-finals game featuring Mt. Lebanon and Central Catholic at 6:30 p.m. Butler and Upper St. Clair will immediately follow that game. Tyler Friel and Father Kevin Fazio will have the call on WBUT 1050 AM. Pregame coverage is expected to begin at 7:50 p.m. with tip-off at 8 p.m.
Slippery Rock girls continue their postseason play tonight taking on Harbor Creek. That game is at 7:30 p.m. at Oil City High School.
