North Catholic Wins Title
The North Catholic boys basketball team won the WPIAL 3A Championship game last night with a 65-56 win over Lincoln Park. It’s the fourth title for North Catholic since 2009—and their first under head coach Dave DeGregorio. His son, Issac led the Trojans with 19 points—including 12 from the free throw line.
Vincentian Academy Wins 1A
Vincentian Academy were winners of the 1A boys title last night after beating their section rivals 63-51. The win comes after school officials announced earlier this week that Vincentian would be closing at the end of the school year.
Mars Basketball in 5A Championship
The Mars Planets will look to be the second Butler County to take home a WPIAL title when they face off against Laurel Highlands tonight. Tip-off at 9 p.m. Friday at the Petersen Event Center
North Catholic Girls in 4A Championship
Trojanettes head coach Molly Rottman will be seeking her 9th WPIAL title as North Catholic takes on Southmoreland in the girls 4A WPIAL Championship. Tip-off is scheduled for Friday night at 7 p.m.
Butler vs. Mt. Lebanon
It’s the final day of practice for the Butler Golden Tornado as they get ready to take on Mount Lebanon in the WPIAL 6A boys championship. Tip-off is scheduled for 9 p.m. Saturday at the Petersen Event Center. Pregame coverage begins at 8:40 p.m. with the coach’s show featuring Matt Clement. Tyler Friel and Fr. Kevin Fazio will have the call of the game on WBUT 1050 AM and The Rock Station 97.7 FM.
District 10 Girls Championship
The site and time has been settled for the District 10 Girls title game featuring Slippery Rock and Grove City. It will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m at Farrell High School.
D9 Girls
Moniteau girls basketball will be playing for the District 9 3A title tonight taking on Brookville. That game is at Clarion University and will start at 7:30 p.m.
