As concerns of the coronavirus spread across Pennsylvania—Slippery Rock University is taking action to reduce the threat of transmission.
SRU students are currently on spring break and that break has been extended an additional two weeks for on campus students until March 29th. After that time, all classes will be held only online until further notice.
Campus offices will remain open unless health concerns mandate closures. Staff will report for work as usual but those showing symptoms of illness should stay home. Contingency plans are being developed to allow for a condensed schedule, not an extension.
All on-campus events are cancelled through March 30th. The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference is in the process of reviewing schedules and deciding about if athletic events will continue. Additional information is expected to be announced concerning students with experiential learning activities and those who must live on campus.
A total of seven PASSHE school have opted to either extend their spring breaks, or move to online classes only. There has yet to be any confirmed cases of the virus in Western PA.
