Butler high school’s Ethan Morton has been named the Gatorade Pennsylvania Player of the Year. The 6-foot-6 senior point guard is just the sixth player from the WPIAL in the history of the award to win the honor.
The award takes into consideration basketball achievements on the court – but also academics and “exemplary character on and off the court”.
Morton averaged nearly a triple-double this season, scoring nearly 23 points per game, nearly 13 rebounds and 8.4 assists. He carries a 4.0 grade point average. He is heading to Purdue to continue his basketball and academic career.
Dante Calabria and Brandon Fuss-Cheatham of Blackhawk, Danny Fortson of Shaler, Brian Walsh of Moon and Robby Carmody of Mars are the other WPIAL players to win the Gatorade honor.
