The Butler Area School District has announced how end of school year activities will be handled for graduating seniors.
A taped program of Senior Awards Night announcements will be broadcast on the district’s website on Wednesday, May 27th at 7 p.m. Caps and gowns will begin to be distributed at the Senior High the next day (5/28) for students with last names beginning with A through M. The rest of the students will receive their caps and gowns the next day.
Instead of a commencement gathering when school ends on June 5th, BASD is planning a prerecorded virtual commencement program at 7 p.m. that day on the district’s website. This program will include speeches, music, and a slideshow.
The actual awarding of diplomas will begin on Wednesday, June 3rd and continue through the next two days. Students and families will be able to request a date and half hour time slot through the district’s website. Each senior can bring six attendees with them and will choose a parent or family member to present their diploma to them on stage.
BASD will try to hold a prom on July 13th or 14th either at BC3 or in the Senior High parking lot. The district also plans to hold an in person commencement ceremony July 15th or 16th if possible.
