Pennsylvania governor Tom Wolf has said the state is working on guidelines to allow sporting events, both professional and amateur, to return to play. Wolf has said he has spoken with professional organizations such as Nascar, the NFL, NHL and Major League Baseball to figure out how they can resume.
The PIAA has agreed to allow group practices or workouts prior to July 1st if the state permits. The state high school sports organization had ruled in April that no high school sports activities could occur until July 1st at the earliest.
The NCAA Division I Council voted yesterday to allow voluntary workouts by football and basketball players as of June 1st. NCAA officials said health and safety protocols mandated by their schools or local health officials because of the pandemic will have to be followed.
