It’s the first election in state history with mail-in ballots; it’s also a presidential election year; and Butler County is doing it all without their Director of Elections.
Despite all of that, County Solicitor Wil White, who is assisting the election department, says things are running smoothly.
“They’ve done a terrific job. Not only the county staff, but some county offices have been able to designate some additional staff to help out,” White said. “The county has also brought in some temporary workers, who have been there for a week or two, and they’ve done an incredible job.”
White said the department is all caught up with mail-in ballots and is now preparing for the logistics of running an election during a pandemic.
“We received our personal protection; the hand sanitizer, the masks, and face shields for poll workers,” White said. “Knock on wood, I’m optimistic things are running pretty smoothly.”
Polls open at 7 a.m. Tuesday
