With the county now going green—the Butler County Tourism and Convention Bureau is getting ready the area’s service industries ready to go.
We’re getting busy and getting ready because people want to get out and experience anything,” Tourism President Jack Cohen said. “More so, we know our industry will bounce back but we need to be prepared.”
He said the tourism industry has been hit hard by the coronavirus shutdown. However, Cohen says there’s a lot of factors involved in making reopening successful.
“It’ll take some time to build back up, but we need to have our facilities ready. We need to make sure we can work under the conditions the governor has put out in front of us,” Cohen said. “And we have to make sure, as in any business, that you can turn a profit.”
“But more than all of that, the overlying factor is that we’re in the service industry. We have got to make sure that we serve our guests correctly when they come into our community.”
Tourism serves as a major industry in Butler. According to the latest data, visitors spent nearly $600 million in the county in 2017.
