There has been an increase in the number of hospitalized coronavirus patients Butler Health System officials say.
As of Friday, the hospital is treating eight patients for COVID-19 symptoms—with two in the ICU. That’s up six patients since Friday.
Overall, Butler County saw four new cases of COVID-19 reported today—bringing the total to 284.
But in neighboring Allegheny County, today marked the biggest number of reported coronavirus cases since April 23rd with 61.
However, Allegheny County health officials say hospitalizations remain low.
And State Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine is stressing the importance and science behind wearing a mask.
“There has been study after study that shows that very simple cloth masks, not foolproof, but if I’m wearing a mask and I am one of those asymptomatic or pre-symptomatic people with COVID-19 than I have a significantly less chance of having those droplets go out,” Levine said.
Pennsylvania reported 600 new cases of COVID-19 and over 13,000 negative tests.
