Butler County will receive a large amount of federal funding through the state to help address the impact of coronavirus on homeless residents.
The Department of Community and Economic Development is awarding a total of nearly $19 million to 52 counties including over $1.5 million to Butler County.
This money will be used to prevent, prepare for, and respond to coronavirus among individuals and families who are homeless or receiving housing assistance. This assistance will also support additional programs dealing with homelessness prevention due to the effects of the ongoing pandemic.
This funding is available as part of the Emergency Solutions Grant CARES Act through a supplemental appropriation from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
