Spain’s Jon Rahm won the Memorial Sunday at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Ohio, and the victory moved him to the top spot in the rankings as the world’s Number-1 golfer. Rahm won by three strokes over American Ryan Palmer, finishing at 9-under 279. He would have won by five strokes, but had a two-stroke penalty when his golf ball moved slightly while preparing to chip from some rough. He holed the shot – but was penalized after the ball movement was spotted on television. Tiger Woods, playing in his first competition since February 16th, tied for 40th place.
Golfing great Jack Nicklaus revealed Sunday that both he and his wife, Barbara, had tested positive for the coronavirus back in March. The 80-year-old shared the news during CBS’ telecast of the Memorial, saying he’d had a sore throat and cough and his wife, who is also 80, didn’t have any symptoms. He said they stayed at home in Florida from March 13th, until the symptoms passed by April 20th.
