Denny Hamlin won the Nascar Cup Series race in Kansas last night for his fifth victory of the season. Hamlin passed Kevin Harvick in the final laps and held off Brad Keselowski, who was the runner-up. Martin Truex, Jr. finished third with Erik Jones fourth, giving Joe Gibbs Racing three of the top five spots.
The other Gibbs driver – defending series champion Kyle Busch, won the opening stage of the night, his first stage win of the season. Busch is now closing in on a 40-race winless streak.
The Cup Series drivers are off until they visit New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Sunday, August 2nd – to begin a stretch of seven races over the five weekends in August.
