It’s a bizarre scam circulating nationwide that has people receiving unsolicited and mislabeled seeds by mail.
The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture says that people across the country have been receiving seeds in packages that are labeled as jewelry.
The scam is known as “brushing” and it’s done by companies looking to boost their online sales by purchasing their own products through fake buyers and sending them to real addresses.
The agriculture department says not to use the seeds that arrive in the packages, and to report it to the USDA’s anti-smuggling hotline.
