State officials say a new school safety program continues to see impactful results after its first year and a half.
According to the Office of Attorney General Josh Shapiro, nearly 24,000 tips were received through the “Safe 2 Say Something” online anonymous threat reporting program during the most recently completed school year.
Rather than concerns about potential school violence, the majority of the tips received were in regards to mental health concerns like bullying, self-harm, and suicides.
Even though students were staying at home and attending classes online through part of the year, many tips were sent through the Safe 2 Say Something mobile app—which is free.
