The WPIAL held a special meeting this morning to announce they will follow the PIAA’s decision to delay fall sports preparations for two weeks as they seek clarifications from Governor Wolf’s administration. The WPIAL joins the PIAA in believing they have the proper guidelines in place to move forward with fall athletics. In a statement, the WPIAL said they believe the lack of athletics for student-athletes will be more harmful than beneficial. The overseeing bodies of Pennsylvania athletics were caught off guard by the governor’s comment that he would not recommend any high school sports prior to January 1st.
Meanwhile on Monday – the Philadelphia Public League suspended all sports until January 1st.
