Our “Back To School” highlight districts around the county continues with South Butler.
Of course it won’t be a return to normal for students, but Superintendent Dr. David Foley says that the district is utilizing a number of options to get students safe face-to-face instruction.
“We have some safe areas that we are designating outside of the building and when we’re in warmer and sunny days, we’re trying to get them out there,” Foley said.
“We’re moving students around the building into large group instruction areas. We have a large group instruction room, the libraries that have tables in; we’re just trying our best to space students out.”
Foley says spacing and logistics have been difficult—and that extends to figuring out how to serve lunch.
“We are serving food, and our lunch lines are going to be six feet apart,” Foley said. “Our food service company is probably going to be loading up the trays, so the students can just grab it and move forward.”
Foley said he also expects a lot of students to continue packing lunches.
The South Butler School Board is scheduled to meet virtually Wednesday at 7 p.m. The meeting can be accessed through the district’s website.
