A local lawmaker is joining several colleagues in an attempt to dissolve what he believes to be an abuse of emergency powers by Governor Tom Wolf.
Republican State Representative Daryl Metcalfe held a news conference Monday presenting a Declaration of Suspension.
Metcalfe claims that Article 1 Section 12 of the Pennsylvania Constitution gives the General Assembly the ability to suspend the 1978 Act known as the Emergency Management Services Code.
The Declaration of Suspension goes on to say that “The history of the present governor of Pennsylvania and his agents is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, resulting in the establishment of tyranny over the people and businesses of the Commonwealth.”
The Declaration also states that it “shall be deemed enacted following the reception of a majority of signatures from the duly elected representatives of the people from each of the co-equal chambers of the Pennsylvania General Assembly.”
