The Chicago Cubs defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 8-7 in 11-innings in a rain-delayed game at PNC Park. The game featured the debut of rookie third-baseman Ke’Bryan Hayes who had a double and home run in his debut – spurring a Pirates comeback after they were down 6-1 in the game.
Hayes ended the night with the two-extra base hits, three runs scored and six total bases. He became the first National League player since Willie McCovey in 1959 to put up those type of debut stats.
The two teams play again tonight at 7:05pm. Pre-game on WISR 680am is 6:40pm. Derek Holland will start for the Bucs – who are now 10-23.
