Last week Governor Tom Wolf publicly asked the legislature to legalize recreational marijuana—and now his secretary of health is responding.
Dr. Rachel Levine says she supports the governor’s request, arguing that it makes sense following the full implementation of the medicinal marijuana industry in the state.
“This is not different than what [Wolf] has said before is that Pennsylvania needs to look at recreational marijuana for adult use,” Levine said. “That would be from a social justice point of view, but also from the budget.”
Wolf said last week that legalizing recreational marijuana could help with the looming budget deficit facing Pennsylvania.
