After nearly 30 years of managing Cranberry Township, Jerry Andree is getting ready to call it a career.
“It gives me great pride to know that I had a little piece of building that community infrastructure that makes this community so attractive to live, work, and play in.”
Andree started as township manager in 1991, and said when he took the job, he instantly became enamored by the passion of the residents.
“When you ask most people where they live, they usually tell you their zip code, like ‘I live in Gibsonia’ or ‘I live in Butler.’ What people said back then was ‘I live in Cranberry Township,’ and that was unusual,” Andree said.
“I thought that these people really feel for their community and really knew where they wanted to take the community,” Andree added. “So I really became infected with enthusiasm.”
Andree also said that while sustaining the growth will always be a challenge, he’s optimistic for Cranberry’s future.
“Based on the kind of interest we see from property owners and developers, there’s a very bright future for Cranberry well into the 2020s.
Andree is set to retire in late January of next year.
