The American League Wild Card playoffs began yesterday – and featured two pitchers taking no-hitters deep into their games.
–Chicago White Sox 4, Oakland A’s 1. Lucas Giolito – who threw a no-hitter during the regular season against the Pittsburgh Pirates – took a perfect game into the seventh inning.
–Tampa Bay Rays 3, Toronto Blue Jays-1. Blake Snell took a no-hitter into the sixth inning for the Tampa Bay.
–Houston Astros 4, Minnesota Twins-1
–New York Yankees 12, Cleveland Indians 3. Former Pirate Gerrit Cole struck out 13 for the Yankees.
Each series continues today.
The National League Wild Card games begin today.
Atlanta will host Cincinnati at Noon – the game is being televised on ESPN.
The Chicago Cubs host the Miami Marlins at 2pm on ABC.
San Diego will host St. Louis at 5pm on ESPN2.
The Los Angeles Dodgers host the Milwaukee Brewers at 10pm on ESPN.
