An agreement was formally approved yesterday that will see the Butler County Prison house inmates from Armstrong County.
Prison officials say Armstrong is running out of capacity, and need another place to send inmates. Butler County meanwhile said they have more than enough room at this moment to help out the neighboring county.
As part of the agreement, Butler County will receive $60 per day per inmate, and will not incur any costs.
Prison officials also say that the agreement will not cost the county any money, nor will it require more staff.
The measure was approved 3-0 by the commissioners, however Kevin Boozel did ask the Prison Board to review the $60 fee.
