–Tampa Bay defeated Toronto 8-2 behind six innings of work from former Pittsburgh Pirate Tyler Glasnow. The Rays win the series 2-0.
–Houston eliminated Minnesota with a 3-1 victory.
–The New York Yankees defeated the Cleveland Indians 10-9 to win that best-of-three series 2-0.
–The Oakland Athletics evened their series with the Chicago White Sox at 1- with a 5-3 victory.
In the opening games of the National League Wild Card Series:
–The Atlanta Braves defeated the Cincinnati Reds 1-0 in 13-innings. The game set a Major League record for the longest scoreless game in playoff history.
–The Miami Marlins defeated the Chicago Cubs 5-1.
–The St. Louis Cardinals defeated the San Diego Padres 7-4.
–The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 4-2.
