Governor Tom Wolf has proposed a waiver of the standard liquor license fees for 2021.
The proposal is designed to provide relief to roughly 16,000 hotels, restaurants, bars, and clubs hit hard by the restrictions put in place by the Wolf administration in an effort to lessen the health impact of the ongoing pandemic.
Each year the state collects approximately $20 million in revenue from liquor licenses. Wolf also called for state legislators to direct additional federal CARES Act funding in forgivable loans and grants to a variety of Pennsylvania small businesses including those in the hospitality, leisure, and service industries.
This plan is still awaiting final approval from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board before it would begin on January 1st.
