Three Butler County teams came home from Hershey with state championships in soccer.
The Mars Boys and Girls Soccer teams won state championships Friday night. The Mars Girls defended their 3A state title with a 2-0 victory over Villa Joseph Marie. It was their ninth consecutive shutout. The Planets defended both their state and WPIAL championships by not allowing a post-season goal. They now have won 37 consecutive games and finished their season 19-0.
The Mars Boys defeated Northern York 2-1 to win their first state championship. Dane Beller scored both goals for the Planets, who finished their season 21-0. The Mars Boys and Girls are the first WPIAL teams to win state titles in the same year.
The Seneca Valley Boys won their first state championship with a 2-1 victory in double overtime over Neshimany Saturday night. Zach La Valle netted the game-winner and the state title for the Raiders, who finished their season 17-1-1.
