Congressman Glenn “GT” Thompson has been selected as the top Republican on the Agriculture Committee in the House.
Thompson said in a statement that he’s looking forward to helping farm families and ensuring a reliable food chain in the country.
He spoke to our newsroom earlier this year about hoping to make history if he was elected chairman.
“I’m hoping to be the first Congressman from Pennsylvania to chair the full House Agriculture Committee,” Thompson said back in October. “That would be the first time in 200 years. The last time it happened it was a Federalist.”
Thompson represents a portion of Butler County as part of the 15th Congressional District.
