The San Diego Padres have acquired former American League Cy Young Award winning pitcher Blake Snell from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for four prospects. The 28-year old Snell won the Cy Young in 2018.
The trade leaves Tampa Bay with former Pittsburgh Pirate Tyler Glasnow as their top remaining starter – after the Rays declined a $15 million option to keep another former Pirate – Charlie Morton.
Reports are indicating the Padres are also interested in Yu Darvish – who was a Cy Young finalist with the Chicago Cubs last season.
