Authorities are continuing their investigation into a recent Publishers Clearing House scam that impacted an East Franklin Township couple.
According to State Police, one of the victims was contacted by a suspect who went by the name John Green sometime between December 1st and December 23rd. Authorities say that the suspect initially claimed that the victims were the winners of a prize worth $750,000, which later changed to $2.1million.
Police also say that the suspect told the victims that they were to send cash and prepaid VISA Cards to a Jean Miller in Nashville in order to claim the prize. Officials say that the victims complied, and lost approximately $10,000 before reporting the case.
Anyone who may have received similar phone calls are asked to contact the Criminal Investigations Unit at the Kittanning Barracks of the State Police at 724-543-2011.
