The Pennsylvania Department of Aging is teaming up to start a task force designed to help prevent the financial exploitation of senior citizens.
The goal of the task force is to better coordinate efforts and support in identifying scams early.
The task force comes on the heels of a detailed study in the state that utilized state area agencies on aging. Some of findings include that 65 percent of those who stole money from seniors were family relatives, who were most often adult children.
The study also found that only one in ten cases were actually reported to authorities.
