The Pittsburgh Penguins earned their first victory of the season with a 4-3 shoot-out win over the Washington Capitals Sunday afternoon at PPG Paints Arena. Jake Guentzel scored the only shoot-out goal after the teams skated to a 3-3 tie through three periods and an overtime.
Casey DeSmith earned the win in net, stopping 20 of 23 shots and all four of the Capitals shoot-out attempts.
The Pens host Washington again Tuesday night at 7pm.
