Students at Slippery Rock University will soon be able to access money to ease financial stress and expenses related to the pandemic.
The U.S. Congress recently designated SRU to receive over $3.5 million through this year’s Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act.
About two-thirds of that total will be issued automatically to students in need through $700 emergency grants. The money can be used for any educational expense such as outstanding bills, food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and child care.
Students who will receive the emergency grant will be notified by mail this week while those who do not receive emergency grants can apply for aid with an online application through the SRU Office of Financial Aid and Scholarship.
