The Boston Bruins defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-1 last night. The Pens have had to scramble on defense due to injury, and had a rookie playing in just his third NHL game paired with Kris Letang on the top line, and a career minor league player in the starting lineup. Codi Ceci, a newcomer this season who had been a healthy scratch for three consecutive games earlier this season, scored the Penguins only goal. The Pens went 0-for-3 on the power play. Tristan Jarry stopped 16 of 20 shots.
The Pens have moved on to New York and will face the Rangers in game three of their four-game road trip Saturday night. Face-off is 7pm. Pre-game begins on WISR at 6:30pm.
Prior to last night’s game, the Pens placed defenseman Marcus Pettersson on injured reserve. They also placed Zach Aston-Reese, Juuso Riikola and Evan Rodrigues on long-term I.R.
