Police are asking anyone with information about a recent theft by deception in Jefferson Township to come forward.
According to State Police, troopers began an investigation last week after a 72-year-old man from Butler reported being scammed.
A man identifying himself as Ben Hennsley from the Detroit District Attorney’s Office told the local man that his son was in prison. He then requested $6,500 in bail money as part of the fraud.
This investigation is ongoing but those with information are asked to contact the Butler barracks of the state police.
