The salary of the Butler County coroner will be up for debate at a special meeting later this month.
County officials confirmed they are looking at raising the salary of the coroner to bring it on par with other elected officials.
Solicitor Wil White said the coroner currently makes an estimated $73,000 per year. That is about $13,000 less than other elected officials at the county level. White also noted that it’s unclear why there is such a discrepancy between the coroner salary and other positions.
A special meeting to discuss the potential raise is required by law and will be held Tuesday February 16th at 6 p.m. at the County Government Center.
A vote will then be held the following morning at the commissioner’s public meeting.
Bill Young currently serves at the county coroner.
