Butler County Commissioners are expected to begin the process of appointing members to their Election Review Commission.
The board provided an update at their meeting Wednesday and said they heard from a number of election judges, party members, and citizens who were interested in participating on the commission. They’ll begin to contact the applicants soon.
The meeting also included a presentation from Butler County Republican Party Committee Chairman Al Lindsay, in which he supported the commission. He said that his members of his party saw a number of concerns regarding the election from last year, including “grossly inadequate training for poll workers.” While he conceded there was no evidence of criminal fraud, Lindsay was hopeful for an investigation into areas of concerns he outlined in a post-election report.
Commissioners also approved to have Jim Dittmar, who is the founder of the Three Rivers Leadership Institute write the report—he’ll be paid $60 per hour and a max of $3,500 total.
The bi-partisan commission will have 12 members and aims to review the strengths and weaknesses of the election process.
