A lawsuit filed by a South Butler County resident against the South Butler County School District has been resolved.
District solicitor Tom Breth informed the South Butler School Board Wednesday night that the suit filed by former school board candidate Tim Danehy has been brought to a conclusion.
Danehy filed the suit in the Butler County Court of Common Pleas last year alleging a violation of the Sunshine Act when former board member Matt Cimbala was appointed by the board to finish the term of a board member who had resigned in 2019.
Danehy confirmed to our newsroom that he withdrew his complaint last month as a result of the judge allegedly never ruling on the violation of the Sunshine Act Danehy believed to be central to his case. Danehy sought the removal of Cimbala.
According to Breth, the district spent around $16,000 in legal fees and other expenses defending against this lawsuit.
