The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the New York Islanders 4-3 in a shoot-out comeback-win last night. Sidney Crosby scored the only goal in the shoot-out for the victory. Evgeni Malkin gave the Penguins the chance to earn the win when he scored to tie the game with 18 seconds remaining in the third period.
Zach Aston-Reese made his season debut after off-season surgery, and scored his first goal of the season in the second period. Bryan Rust scored his third goal of the year in the opening period. Casey DeSmith improved to 4-1 this season by stopping 26 of 29 shots on goal for the Pens, who improved to 6-5-1.
The Pens will host the Washington Capitals for a 3pm face-off Sunday at PPG Paints Arena. Pre-game on WISR is 2:30pm.
The NHL has announced they will be adding game-day rapid tests for players to its safety protocols in its latest bid to stem potential COVID-19 outbreaks. The league has had to postpone more than two dozen games so far this season.
